Today we went from Cambridge all the way up through Scotland to Edinburgh. It really was a perfect day for travel...it was cloudy but not rainy, and I slept the entire way to Edinburgh. But halfway to Edinburgh we stopped near Yorkshire at Fountains Abbey... a UNESCO World Heritage Site of an Abbey. Here's what Wikipedia says about it: "Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is located approximately three miles south-west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, near to the village of Aldfield. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for over 400 years, until 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
The abbey is a Grade I listed building owned by the National Trust and part of the designated Studley Royal Park including the Ruins of Fountains Abbey UNESCO World Heritage Site."
Bottom Line: it was really neat. So here are a bunch of pictures from the Fountains Abbey Ruins:

And then we arrived in Edinburgh about four hours later. We wandered into the city for a little bit just to see what it was like, and ended up taking plenty of pictures once we found one of the hills overlooking the city.
